CVIB faculty member, Mike McNitt-Gray, received the 2021 Academy Council of Distinguished Investigators Award from the Academy for Radiology & Biomedical Imaging Research. The award recognizes Mike’s many contributions to UCLA and the field of medical physics. He is the UCLA Assistant Vice Chancellor for Radiation Safety, and the Director of Physics and Biology in Medicine Graduate Program. His research in computed tomography (CT) aims to maximize the information that can be extracted from the resulting image data, in particular using computer vision. Mike leads a team of graduate students and scientists and their work provides a foundation for machine learning to handle the real world variations arising from different CT acquisition techniques in clinical practice.
